Metaplanet Crosses $400M in Bitcoin Holdings After $28M Purchase

Japanese Firm Aims for 21,000 BTC by 2026, Solidifies Spot Among Top Global Holders

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has taken another big step in its Bitcoin journey by acquiring an additional 330 BTC, worth approximately $28.2 million. This latest purchase was made at an average price of $85,605 per Bitcoin, bringing the company’s total holdings to 4,855 BTC—valued at over $414 million.

This strategic move aligns with Metaplanet’s ambitious goal of reaching 21,000 BTC by 2026. Often compared to U.S.-based MicroStrategy, Metaplanet is becoming a key player in institutional Bitcoin adoption across Asia.

To fund its aggressive accumulation strategy, the firm recently issued 2 billion yen (around $13.3 million) in bonds, showcasing its commitment to increasing its crypto portfolio.

Currently, Metaplanet is the largest Bitcoin holder in Asia and ranks among the top ten globally. With over 119% returns on its Bitcoin investments this year, the company’s bullish stance on crypto appears to be paying off.

As institutional interest continues to rise, Metaplanet’s strategy reflects growing confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term value and its potential as a major financial asset.
